Her first book, Love & Misadventure (2013) was a break out success, and according to Publisher’s Weekly, foretold the poetry movement that is currently taking the publishing world by storm. Her subsequent books, including her debut novel, Sad Girls, continue to top bestseller charts in bookstores worldwide. Lang actively participates in international writer’s festivals and her tours consistently draw massive crowds. Here are some of my favourite quoutes from her novels:
- “I learned that writing is the consolation prize you are given when you don’t get the thing you want the most.”
― Lang Leav, Sad Girls - “In her eyes, the sadness sings—of one who was destined, for better things.”
― Lang Leav, Love & Misadventure - “I don't think all writers are sad, she said. I think it's the other way around- all sad people write.”
― Lang Leav - “ Strength
Don't let them tell you that your pain should be confined to the past, that it bears no relevance to the present. Your pain is part of who you are.
They don't know how strong that makes you.”
― Lang Leav, Sea of Strangers - “From Everyone
When you don't have the whole attention of someone, you find yourself begging for it from everyone.”
― Lang Leav, Sea of Strangers - “It was words that I fell for. In the end, it was words that broke my heart.”
― Lang Leav, Memories - “One day you will be nostalgic for today.”
